“We Out”
- Harriet Tubman
IABPsi is organizing a movement to boycott and desist supporting organizations and businesses whose practices contribute to the poor treatment or compromised justice of Black people. We also aim to make accessible, by compiling information from many sources, information about the businesses and organizations that support just and progressive actions and that benefit Black people. Our focus in on the lives of Black people, but as true of progressive social movements, we do not exclude anyone.
We will focus on businesses and services in Indiana, but spread to other regions in the U.S. and world.
We believe that boycotting is one means to combat injustice.
And you can help. Please interact with our blogger, Chalmer Thompson, President of IABPsi, and help us identify the companies to boycott (with data to back up, please), as well as businesses and services that promote progressive action.
We are just beginning. There is more to come!
Where to Boycott
Where to go, where to buy: The Alternatives
Organizations we like
As a non-profit organization, we are tasked to follow certain guidelines that dictate what we can do and, more notably, what we cannot do. We believe in general that there is fairness in this guideline for organizations that are intended to serve the public without the interference of political advocacy. In these pages, note that we avoid all and any mention of political partisanship. Advocacy for a political party is far from what we’re about. Instead, we advocate for change that can improve the psychological and physical welfare of African-descended people in the U.S. and elsewhere. Unfortunately, here hasn’t been stern support by either of the major parties from any one party over another. Indeed, there are infamous compromises struck by members of political parties that have not boded well for Black Americans throughout history (see Derrick Bell, The Grift), nor by powerful political and corporate leaders on behalf of African-descended people throughout the world. Whatever the issues and actions that have a great impact on the lives of Black/African-descended people around the world, we intend to focus our attention on them. We make no deliberate efforts to sway readers toward or away from a particular party line.
